About the service

Dad's House aim is to make sure children remain the priority after divorce, separation or bereavement. There are many ways in which Dad's House helps dads and families, including offering emotional support, combating loneliness and isolation by being available to chat with Dads on the phone or in-person at the drop-in centre, breakfast clubs, law clinics, food banks and accommodation/housing. Dad's House goal is to have drop-in centres around the UK run by Dads.

Dad's House can help all Dads in need, but cannot assist anyone that has been charged with any physical/verbal abuse of their children/partner.

Maxilla Men's Shed ACAVA

About the service

Maxilla Men’s Shed is a community workshop and maker space with a focus on tackling social isolation, funded by the NHS North Kensington Recovery Programme.

Launched in September 2019, the Shed is based at ACAVA’s Maxilla Studios on the Westway estate in North Kensington. The Shed is primarily designed for men but also accommodates women, and it’s a place to come and make, learn skills, stay active, and socialise.

Alongside providing specialist workshops and courses, the Shed runs weekly ‘Tinkering Sessions’, where interaction with other users is central to the project’s ethos, and the Shed embraces all new members into the fold.

Mental health and well-being drop in service by Mosaic Community Trust is a drop-in service to address emotional and mental wellness through social circles, focus group discussions, gentle exercise, deep breathing and therapeutic massage.

Kensington and Chelsea Mind provide mental health support in the form of peer support, Living Well workshops and social activities, as well as a Mind Skills Development Service which offers horticulture and I.T. training.

About the service

NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression is a free and confidential NHS service for people aged 16 and over who are registered with a GP in Kensington and Chelsea. Talking Therapies provide a range of support if you are:

  • Experiencing difficult emotions such as low mood, worry or stress
  • Feeling overwhelmed by anxiety
  • struggling with depression, or
  • having trouble sleeping because of intrusive thoughts

You can learn ways to improve your wellbeing and have the space to think about your difficulties and find ways to manage them better.

Talking Therapies can also help if you are living with a long-term physical health condition by finding ways to better manage the practical and emotional aspects.

How to access the service

Community Living Well provides face-to-face support for anyone aged 16 and above. They accept referrals from any health professional (including GP).

You can also refer yourself by completing an online referral form, or online referral with chat bot assistance on their website.

You can access the service by appointment only - they do not offer walk in appointments.

Al-Manaar Children and Young People's Therapy Service

About the service

Al-Manaar Children and Young People's Therapy Service offers free, in-person, faith-sensitive psychotherapy to Muslim heritage children and young people aged between 2 and 24. They also offer support to parents/carers concerned about the emotional wellbeing of their child. The service liaises with the professional network if requested by the family (school, GP, CAMHS, Children's Services).

The service has therapists of Muslim heritage, and supervised by an experienced, accredited Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, Dr Rachel Abedi. Additional services include:

  • Workshops for parents
  • training for professionals working with children and young people
  • collaboration with other community organisations and services

One You Healthy Lifestyles and Stop Smoking Service offers Stop Smoking support with one-to-one advice from a trained advisor, plus 12-weeks of free nicotine replacement therapy including patches, sprays and vapes.

The Healthy Lifestyle service offers 12 weeks of one-to-one health coaching, weight management sessions, and sport and physical activity sessions such as swimming and womens only boxing.

Sessions are delivered in a wide range of settings across Kensington and Chelsea.
