Notting Hill Carnival

How we support Carnival

The Council aims to support residents over Carnival through several main roles:

  1. Street traders: To make sure street traders at Carnival meet the necessary safety and legal standards.
  2. Litter and cleaning: To pick up litter, clean the streets and get the area back to normal as soon as practically possible after Carnival.
  3. Toilets: To provide toilets for the event where possible.
  4. Music and noise: To agree permission for music to be played during the event and monitor noise levels.
  5. Traffic and parking management: To support the management of traffic around the area.

A message from the Leaders of Kensington and Chelsea Council and Westminster City Council

Carnival is an event that brings thousands of people together. Known for being the largest community-led street celebration in Europe, it is one of London’s most iconic cultural events.

Held between Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster, our two boroughs support the Carnival organisers and community partners to ensure the safety and facilitate the fun for Carnival attendees, whether they’re visitors to our boroughs, or residents.

For those who live and work in the area, we understand that the weekend has a huge impact on you, and our work this year, as always, is focused on ensuring any disruption is kept to a minimum. We’d like to thank you for your patience and understanding.

These webpages provide practical advice and tips for Carnival, from useful contact details to information on what will take place over the weekend including parking restrictions and advice for businesses. Ensuring a safe and enjoyable Carnival for everyone is our first and foremost priority.

Celebrating our local history and supporting our communities year-round is a part of who we are, and a big part of what makes Notting Hill the fantastic place we all know and love.

We hope you have a wonderful time this Carnival.
