About the New Homes Delivery Programme
The Council’s New Homes Delivery Programme is delivering 600 new homes including a minimum of 300 social rent homes, alongside key worker, open market homes to rent and other community and employment facilities.
All homes will adopt the same design and be built to the same specification whether they are social rent, market rent or key worker homes.
They will offer a high standard of design to reflect our commitment to sustainability.
This will include:
- high standards of insulation
- careful selection of construction materials and methodology
- heating and hot water systems optimising renewable energy to reduce fuel bills and move towards zero carbon objectives.
The programme aims to include new community and employment facilities on all suitable sites.
We have also committed to building all the new homes without the loss of any existing homes.
The New Homes Delivery Programme is currently being delivered in three phases.
Phase 1
The following four sites will deliver 98 homes – 50 social rent, 22 key worker and 26 market rent.
Residents have already started moving into Hewer Street and are due to start moving into Kelso Cochrane House and Acklam Road in summer 2024.
Phase 2
The following two sites will deliver 94 homes – 49 social rent, 10 key worker and 35 market rent.
The other Phase 2 site, Edenham, has been paused for further consideration. The Council still intends to build new homes on this site.
