Estate Care

Estate care and maintenance information

What is Estate Care?

The Council's aim is to provide residents with an enhanced cleaning and caretaking service to maintain the shared spaces around your homes.

In October 2021, the Council’s cleaning and caretaking contract with OCS came to an end. In consultation with residents, it brought services back in-house and restructured the way they would be delivered.

These services have been amalgamated to form Estate Care, a patch-based provision that includes monitoring of all local services, including grounds maintenance, communal repairs, waste management, tree maintenance, playground safety, cleaning, and amenity improvement.

What services does Estate Care offer?

Estate Care provides a local, flexible, cleaning and caretaking service able to respond to specific requests such as spillages, seasonal cleaning, or overlooked areas. Services are delivered by eight ward teams, led by an Estate Manager, and supported by a Senior Caretaker.

As well as delivering day-to-day caretaking and cleaning, Estate Care includes a mobile team that carries out bulk waste removal, scheduled deep cleans, jet-washing and more.

An evening Caretaking service carries out scheduled attendances to blocks, and is available to respond to emergencies and urgent referrals boroughwide.

A weekend caretaking team carry out essential duties including bin rotation, litter picking, lift cleaning and removing bulk waste on estates across the borough.

These concentrated visits within an area provide a reassuring presence for residents, help discourage loitering, and are designed to displace and prevent antisocial behaviour or criminal activity.

Tell us what you think about Estate Care

We aim to deliver great value for money and ensure that costs are managed efficiently to provide a competitively priced service to customers.

A Resident Steering Group meets to discuss the Estate Care service performance and development.

This summer we will be seeking to extend our Garden Club across the borough and carry out an options appraisal on the future of our Concierge/Security Contract which ends in February 2023.
