Communal Repairs
Communal Repairs are those repairs carried out to areas of your building or estate which you share with other residents.
Our Responsibilities
Maintaining the shared areas outside of your flat, the structure and interior communal areas, including:
- Communal stairs, corridors, landings, entrance hallway, bannisters, railings, flooring.
- Entry systems, lifts and lighting where provided.
- Plumbing and drainage outside your flat.
- Fire doors, foyer doors, security gates, window frames, floors, footpaths.
- Repairs to communal heating and hot water systems.
Your tenancy agreement or lease allows you to be charged for a share of the costs of maintaining these areas.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the inside of your home.
This means that you have to:
- Carry out repairs to internal plumbing, gas pipes and electrical wiring. You are advised to have a gas safety check every year.
- Maintain your gas boiler and central heating.
- Cleaning the area outside your front door, and garden if that is included in your property.
