Grenfell Recovery Strategy

Grenfell Projects Fund

The Grenfell Projects Fund was introduced as part of the Council’s five-year Grenfell Recovery Strategy and provides grants to local residents and organisations to support North Kensington’s community-led recovery.

We’re now into the third year of the Strategy and currently working with our Residents-led Panel to roll out the second round of the Grenfell Projects Fund.

Grenfell Projects Fund 2

Over £1.2 million has now been allocated to 40 North Kensington community projects as part of the second round of the Fund.

The funding was allocated following a public vote, in which almost 1,400 North Kensington residents cast more than 4,400 votes via our online platform. These scores were then combined with those provided by our Resident-led Panel and Grenfell Community Team to decide which projects would bring the most benefit to the local community.

Projects

We are hosting an event at Al Manaar with information stalls and representatives from each project so you can find out more about the organisations and projects you voted for. There will also be interactive elements to some of the stalls to give you a taste of what the projects have to offer.

Grenfell Projects Fund 1

In January and February 2020, the North Kensington community voted to fund a host of local projects as part of the first round of the Grenfell Projects Fund.

Each project idea was presented over two Decision Days and residents voted on those they wanted to support across six outcomes, with £100k available for each outcome. Of the 88 project submissions, 47 were fully funded with three receiving partial funding.

An additional £100k was later allocated by the Council to a selection of unsuccessful projects that were favoured by the public vote but narrowly missed out on funding.

Following this increase, a total of 55 projects were fully funded with three projects receiving partial funding.
