Your rights
Remember, you are important! The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that you have the following rights:
- Article 9 – You have the right to keep in regular contact with your parents as long as this is the best thing for you and is safe
- Article 12 – You have the right to be respected and have your views listened to when decisions are being made that affect you.
- Article 16 – You have the right to privacy.
- Article 20 – You have the right to be looked after properly by people who respect your language, culture and religion, if you cannot be looked by your family.
- Article 25 – You have the right to have your situation reviewed regularly if you live away from home and are looked after by the local authority.
