Meetings and groups
Placement planning meeting
This is a meeting where your care plan is agreed. It is run by your social worker’s manager. This will happen just before, or within the first week of your new placement. You will be invited to this meeting along with your parents and carers. You will be asked about your opinions, thoughts and feelings. Your views will be listened to. This doesn’t mean that we can always do what you want, however, we will promise to explain the reasons for any decisions made.
There will be house rules at your new home which your social worker and carers will talk to you about. This is to help you and your carer have the best time together.
Review meeting
Review meetings happen to make sure the plans that are made for you are carried out and to think about whether changes need to be made to these plans. Your first review meeting should happen within four weeks of you moving to your placement. Then another review happens 3 months later, and then every 6 months.
Before your review, your social worker will speak to you about your thoughts and feelings. You can mention who you’d like to attend and what you want to talk about.
Your IRO, carer, social worker and possibly your parents will attend your review meeting.
Future Union - RBKC’s Children in Care Council
Future Union is the name of RBKC's Children in Care Council for young people aged 12+ who are looked after and would like to be involved in decision making and ensuring their voices are heard.
We work on lots of different projects that aim to make a difference for children and young people who are looked after. Our meetings and events are also great opportunities to meet new people.
If you are a RBKC young person who is in care, please feel free to join our private WhatsApp group to get involved. Getting involved doesn’t always mean coming to meetings. We want to make sure that your voice is heard; whether it’s in person at our weekly meetings, over the phone or through email. If you are a RBKC young person who is in care and want to get involved please feel free to get in contact by:
