Road safety
Road safety in the borough
We are working towards meeting road safety targets set by the Mayor of London and work with community partners to make our roads safer. This includes:
- the Metropolitan Police
- schools
- youth groups
- businesses

Collision statistics
The Metropolitan Police record all road traffic collisions in the borough which result in personal injury. This data is passed on to the Council by Transport for London.
Our Road Safety Team monitor the data to identify opportunities to reduce collisions in specific areas through:
- engineering
- enforcement
- education campaigns
You can find out more about road collisions in your area on Transport for London’s Road Danger Reduction website.
Traffic management in the borough
Traffic Management schemes in the borough help us to reduce traffic congestion, improve safety & well-being as well as encouraging active and sustainable modes of travel. Our recent borough-wide, 20mph speed limit on all council owned road’s a prime example.
We recently published a good practice guide of our traffic schemes and traffic management schemes.
