Clean-up after Carnival
Please note that due to the Summer Bank Holiday on Monday 26 August 2024, there will be no waste collections on that day. The revised collection dates for this week only, are as follows: If your regular collection is on Monday 26 August 2024, your next collection date will be Thursday 29 August 2024. If your regular collection is on Tuesday 27 August 2024, your next collection date will be Wednesday 28 August 2024.
Rubbish will be cleared each night from the main Carnival area.
- Timings of nightly clean-ups are subject to police advice on suitable times to start. Main roads and areas around transport hubs also take priority for the clean-up.
- Barriers and signs will be removed by the police and contractors in the week after the event.
- A free cleaning service is offered for residents with a basement affected during Carnival.
- This is not offered for free where resident-organised Carnival activity or street trading has taken place; Council officers record addresses of any such activity to determine eligibility for this service.
If you have authorised Carnival activity on your premises and want to register for a basement clean, charges are:
- Basic sweep, litter clearance: £30
- Including pressure wash: £75
Register for the free or charged service by 5pm Thursday 29 August via our online form or call 020 7361 3001 (weekdays 9am to 5pm).
Toilets
Temporary toilets are positioned around the Carnival area and will be installed from Wednesday 21 August.
Parking suspensions are put in place to facilitate this.
In situating the toilets, we try to achieve a balance between catering for the requirements of the event and the needs of residents, we appreciate your understanding.
