Local organisations supporting those affected by the Grenfell tragedy are being invited to apply for a portion of £600k in the second round of the Grenfell Projects Fund (GPF).
Set up by Kensington and Chelsea Council, the GPF provides grants to projects supporting the North Kensington community.
Recipients from the £700k first round, which was held in early 2020, included schemes to provide plants for every home on the Lancaster West Estate, run a film club for families and older residents and deliver financial workshops to young people.
The second round launched for pre-qualifications in late September with the full application stage opening in November. A newly-appointed Resident-led Panel of North Kensington residents will help to sort the pre-qualification applications and will co-design, monitor and evaluate both the Grenfell Projects Fund and Community Leadership Programme.
Paula Taras, Founder and Director of Notting Hill Therapy Clinic, used GPF funding to put on a number of courses in North Kensington between June and August this year. She said:
“Our therapists worked hard to deliver high-quality support to the North Kensington community, ranging from a homeopathy home prescriber course and soothe your child with massage lessons to yoga, Pilates and mindfulness self-healing techniques. We were overwhelmed with the response, receiving 100 per cent positive feedback along with some really heart-warming comments from those who took part.
“The Grenfell Projects Fund enabled our therapists to provide these workshops and I encourage anyone who wants to have a positive impact on the community to consider applying for the second round.”
After listening to our Resident-led Panel, we’ve extended the Grenfell Projects Fund 2 pre-qualification deadline to Wednesday 1 December so we can reach as many residents as possible across North Kensington.
