Houses in multiple occupation HMO

Licence fees

The Council does not charge a flat fee for HMO licences. The fee is property specific and calculated upon receipt of a valid application. The fee is requested when all the habitable rooms in the property have been accounted for to the satisfaction of the Council.

The HMO licence fee is split into two parts:

  1. Part A is payable when submitting the application online and covers the cost of processing the application up to approval.
  2. Part B becomes payable after the licence has been approved and covers the cost of enforcing the scheme. The part B payment is automatically debited once we have processed your application

Discounts

Accredited landlords

We want to recognise efforts undertaken by landlords to ensure they are fully aware of their legal responsibilities, and that they are managing their properties in a satisfactory manner. Therefore, a £80 reduction will be available to any landlord who is accredited with the London Landlord Accreditation Scheme (LLAS).

Landlords will need to state their accreditation number to receive a discount. Accredited landlords will not be eligible for a discount where they have failed to apply for a licence and where unlicensed HMOs are brought to the attention by the council.

Fit and Proper Persons Check

Where the applicant has more than two HMO licence applications, a £50 reduction will apply.
