A school travel plan demonstrates a school’s commitment to improving local road safety and air quality by planning out actions and targets to address its particular travel needs. The aim is to shift the school community away from using cars for the school commute, and to encourage sustainable modes of travel, such as walking, cycling, scooting and public transport.
It can involve the whole school community, including pupils, parents, teachers and governors, which means it can be an exciting project that is integrated into the life and ethos of the school.
TfL’s STARS Scheme provides a great platform for schools to develop their own travel plan. Please use the menu to learn more about STARS and explore the wide range of information, tools and resources relating to school travel plans and sustainable travel.
