Response to Government Consultations

Occasionally the Council will respond to Government consultations or other planning consultations such as those being carried out by the GLA. Below you can find documents that have been prepared and submitted by Council in response to those consultations since October 2020.

Government Consultation on Supporting Housing Delivery

The Government has carried out an eight week consultation running from 3 December 2020 to 28 January 2021 on a package of measures titled Supporting Housing Delivery. The consultation proposes radical reforms as to what will, and will not, need planning permission. In particular it proposes replacing the need for planning permission with prior approval for the change of use of any commercial, business or service use (a class E use) to residential.  Our response can be found below.

Government Consultation on Planning for the Future White Paper

The Government started a 12-week consultation from 6 August until 29 October 2020 on Planning for the Future White Paper. The White Paper proposes radical reforms to the planning system. The Council’s response was approved by the Leadership Team on 8 October 2020 with further comments to be considered from local people or organisations, or from the Environment Select Committee. We received comments from Kensington Society, Hillgate Village Residents Association, Pembridge Association, Labour Group and the Environment Select Committee. Government consultation on Changes to the Current Planning System

Changes to the current planning system (consultation on changes to planning policy and regulations) - This consultation was run by the government from 6 August 2020 to 1 October 2020. This consultation sets out proposals for measures to improve the effectiveness of the current planning system. Our submitted response can be found below.
