Air Quality SPD

The Air Quality Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) sets out the Council’s requirements for improving air quality in new development, conversions and change of use. It supplements Unitary Development Plan (UDP) Policies PU1 and PU2 and provides detailed guidance on their implementation. The draft SPD will also help implement the objectives of the Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) relating to land use. The draft SPD also supplements regional and national planning policy, and in particular Planning Policy Statement 23: Planning and Pollution Control. The SPD will replace the Council’s existing Air Quality SPG, adopted in May 2002.

The draft SPD was published for consultation for six-weeks, from 4 November 2008 to the 16 December 2008.

The SPD was adopted by the Council on the 17 June 2009. The SPD, together with all other supporting documents, are available to download:
