Voting by post or proxy

Your voting options

If you want to vote in an election but can't attend the polling station you have two options: voting by post or by proxy. Voting by proxy means someone you trust will cast your vote for you.

For both options you need to be registered. Check if you are correctly registered by contacting us on [email protected]

Apply to vote by post

You need to download and complete the form on the Electoral commission website.

Either scan it in and email it to us at [email protected] or post it to us at:

Electoral Services, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Town Hall, Hornton Street, London, W8 7NX.

Apply to vote by proxy

Only electors who are (or are applying to be) registered individually can apply to vote by proxy.

The person you want to be your proxy:

  • must be 18 or over
  • must be registered individually (or are applying to be)
  • cannot be a proxy for more than two people in an election or referendum, unless they are a close relative

Download and complete a form to apply to vote by proxy. There are different forms depending on your reason for needing a proxy vote. Find out more on the Electoral commission website.

For general guidance on registering to vote, visit the Register to vote page on the GOV.UK website.
