Residents and visitors can share their views on our local high streets, how they currently use them and what they would like to see in the future to inform new initiatives and improvements.

High streets everywhere are changing, and working to adapt to better suit local residents and visitors is a priority for all local authorities. To ensure Kensington and Chelsea’s vibrant streets keep meeting the needs of our communities, a short online survey has been launched to help the Council understand what people currently use our borough’s high streets for, how they get there, and what are their priorities for future improvements.

Council officers held workshops with local residents in our Citizens’ Panel to discuss their thoughts and priorities for local high streets. Following these workshops throughout June and July, the key themes have been outlined in a survey with community engagement platform Commonplace which is open to everyone who lives, works in or visits Kensington and Chelsea.

Cllr Catherine Faulks, Lead Member for Economy, Employment and Innovation said:

“In a changing world, our high streets have to adapt and respond, particularly with the challenges they face with online shopping and lower footfall. We're committed to ensuring our high streets across the borough are innovative and exciting places that both residents and visitors want to be.

“It’s so important and valuable that you give us your views so we can work together to ensure future improvements meet your needs and maintain high streets for the future.”

Questions cover feedback on easier travel, cleaner streets, greater variety or quality of businesses, events, night-time economy and more.

Responses will directly inform new initiatives and projects to improve town centres in the borough so your opinion counts. Make sure to have your say on creating high streets which suit you and your community, so they can thrive in the future.

Visit https://kcfuturehighstreets.commonplace.is and share your thoughts by Friday 30 September.
