Kensington and Chelsea Council has launched a consultation on proposals to build a new state-of-the-art nursery and children’s centre, along with 18 new homes all offered at social rent, on the site of the current Cheyne Nursery in Chelsea.

A page on the Council’s website shows the initial proposals for the project; a series of Q&As; and a video presentation with members of the project team, who explain the plans so far, and Cllr Kim Taylor Smith, the Council’s Deputy Leader with responsibility for Grenfell, Housing and Social Investment.

Howarth Tompkins, appointed architects have provided indicative designs to demonstrate what could be achieved on the site, though final proposals will be steered by feedback captured at three rounds of community consultation with the intention of providing final plans to experienced contractors ahead of construction.

The first round of consultation will see two discussions take place with local people: an online event hosted over zoom on Tuesday 29 June from 5.30pm to 7pm and an in-person event on Saturday 3 July from 10.30am to 12pm at Carlyle Building, Hortensia Road, London, SW10 0RQ.
