A consultation on the expansion of an order which allows the borough to warn and fine noisy drivers opens today.
Residents told us they have been plagued by noisy drivers, leading the council to become the first borough to pilot noise camera technology last year.
Acoustic cameras were originally installed in the borough in September 2020 to monitor disruptive noise and anti-social driving. Visit our Council's webpage for more information on the pilot program.
At the moment the order is only operating in the Knightsbridge area. But the council is aware other areas of the borough may benefit from this enforcement.
The Council is now looking to expand the scheme into other parts in the borough and would like to hear from residents and people working in the borough.
Lead Member for Transport Cllr Johnny Thalassites said:
“Piloting new noise camera technology last year has helped us catch some of the worst offenders of noisy and inconsiderate driving. We want our borough to be the best place to live, work and learn in London and we are always looking for ways to make it a great place to be while keeping the community safe.
“We now wish to hear from those living and working in the borough to see if they would benefit from boroughwide enforcement against this issue.”
The consultation will run for 6 weeks to give residents a chance to leave their comments. Residents can fill in a survey to take part by visiting the RBKC consultation page on nuisance vehicles or email the Council via the dedicated PSPO email [email protected]
