Kensington and Chelsea’s Mayor has shared his condolences with Lebanon’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom following the tragic explosions in Beirut on Tuesday (4 August).
Cllr Gerard Hargreaves hand-delivered a letter to H.E. Rami Mortada at the Lebanese Embassy in Palace Garden Mews, Kensington, to express his sorrow as Lebanon observes its national days of mourning.

Dear Ambassador Rami Mortada,
I am writing to express my deepest condolences to you and the people of Lebanon after the tragedy that occurred in Beirut on Tuesday evening. The footage of the explosions has shocked us all and it is hard to put into words the horror and the sorrow I felt watching the scenes unfold on the news.
I pray for strength for all those involved in the recovery, including the emergency service workers and medical professionals, and hope that as many lives as possible can be saved.
I pray also for those who have lost their lives in the explosions. All of us here at Kensington and Chelsea are thinking of those that have lost loved ones in this tragedy as Lebanon observes its national day of mourning.
