Year 11 students in Kensington and Chelsea have welcomed their GCSE results today, alongside those receiving updated A Level results following changes to the way grades are awarded by Government.
As students were unable to sit their exams as planned due to the Coronavirus lockdown, grades were calculated based on predicted grades as assessed by schoolteachers who worked closely with students throughout their studies.
Cllr Josh Rendall, Kensington and Chelsea Council’s Lead Member for Children and Family Services, said:
“It’s been a tough year for students, so it’s a great relief for all involved to see these brilliant results coming in. We know our students work extremely hard and our local teachers are fair and honest judges of the work they produce. I'm confident students and parents will respect the new process agreed by the Government in recognising grades rightfully deserved by those receiving results today.
I’d like to congratulate our students and thank our schools for the support they have provided to our young people in extraordinary circumstances this year. We wish them every success as they move on to post 16 study at one of our excellent sixth forms or at one of our local colleges if they wish to pursue a high-quality vocational course or take on an apprenticeship.”
The Council has been supporting students today with advice on managing anxiety and celebrating those who send in positive stories on their results on social media.
