We are proud to be supporting Gas Safety Week 2020, which is taking place between 14 – 20 September 2020.
Gas Safety Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of gas safety and the importance of taking care of your gas appliances. It is coordinated by Gas Safe Register, the official list of gas engineers who are legally allowed to work on gas appliances.
Badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. CO is a highly poisonous gas that can kill quickly with no warning, as you cannot see it, taste it or smell it.
The Council, as a landlord, is legally responsible for the safety of our tenants and must make sure maintenance and annual safety checks on gas appliances are carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Please look out for the annual letter from our gas contractor, K&T Heating, requesting access to your home to carry out the annual gas safety check.
Always ensure that when the gas contractor visits your home to carry out your annual gas safety check that they display/show their ID card.
For any general enquiries about the annual gas safety check, please contact the Council’s Housing Management Customer Services on 0800 137 111.
