Pupils from Kensington Aldridge Academy receive their GCSE results

A huge well done to local learners in Kensington and Chelsea who are receiving their GCSE results today following another year of challenging study amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.

Like last year, grades have been awarded through teacher assessment, with teachers monitoring student comprehension and ability throughout the school year to ensure students receive grades that accurately reflect their dedication and understanding of their chosen subjects.

We will be updating this page with results from schools in Kensington and Chelsea as they are received. If you’re looking for results from a specific school, you may find updates sooner on their respective websites.

Successes
Kensington Aldridge Academy

Christopher achieved six 9s, three 8s and a 7 and has enrolled at KAA Sixth Form to study Economics, Maths, Further Maths and Physics for A level. He said: “I found studying at home during lockdown more difficult than being in the classroom at school, but I’m really pleased with my results.

Era was delighted with her top grades after achieving four 9s, four 8s and two 7s and has also enrolled at KAA Sixth Form to study A Level courses in Economics, Government & Politics, History and Psychology in September.

Alexander achieved top grades 9 to 7 in all his subjects, and is looking forward to joining KAA Sixth Form. He hopes to then go to university to study Medicine. Alex said of the disruption to GCSEs caused by COVID: “It was more uncertain for us and we weren’t quite sure what would happen. We were on and off school, in and out of lockdown, and had teacher assessed grades and coursework instead of national exams, so it wasn’t as stable as normal GCSEs, but I’m happy in the end.”

St Thomas More Language College

Dr Trevor Papworth, Headteacher of St Thomas More Language College, said: “Once again, despite all the disruption the students have been through, the hard working students of STMLC are celebrating excellent GCSE results, having achieved or exceeded their potential.

"This is reflected by 81 per cent of the students achieving the government’s standard pass in both English and Maths and in the highest grades being achieved across all subjects.

"As in previous years these students have lived out St Thomas’s motto: ‘Serving God, Striving for Excellence’ through the most difficult times, which is reflected in the outcomes for these students as a result of positive staff, student and parental collaboration.”

Latimer AP Academy

At the start of Year 10, MD had really poor attendance whilst experiencing difficulties with sleep and this continued during the first lockdown with little online engagement. However, from the beginning of the autumn term 2020 - and with the continued support and encouragement from school staff, coupled with his own self determination and willingness to engage with planned interventions programmes - MD managed to overcome any issues and attain some impressive results. MD is now heading for sixth form college to complete his A levels and other level three courses having secured 7 qualifications which include level 5, 6 and 7 results.

IVM has had a challenging secondary school experience having attended two mainstream secondary school before his arrival at Latimer AP Academy. During the lockdown period he continued to engage positively with the online remote offer, ensuring his centre-assessed grades reflected his natural ability. He has achieved 7 qualifications including a mixture of level 5 and 4 results in his GCSEs. IVM now plans to take up the provisional place he was offered at St Charles Sixth Form College.

THM arrived at the start of Year 11 after a troubled previous year.  In the following months she quickly established herself as a central figure within her peer group and wider school community, excelling in Art and producing amazing pieces which brought wider acclaim amongst peers and stakeholders of the school. Through her work she continually encouraged others to make and sustain progress and achieved 6 GCSEs, including Level 4 in science and Level 5 in Art. She now progresses to Islington College to pursue either Hair & Beauty or Health and Social Care.

Everol Halliburton, TBAP Leader of the Latimer AP Academy, said:

“Overall, the school has continued to excel, despite the circumstances presented by delayed school term starts, lockdown and internal restructures.

"I am extremely proud of the efforts made by the learners and staff and grateful for the wider support received from the whole community.”
