Kensington and Chelsea Council, in partnership with the Construction Youth Trust, is supporting a new, free five-day ‘Community Project’ for local young people aged 16-19 to build practical skills in the construction space.
Running from Monday 2 to Friday 6 August, 10am to 3.30pm, the Community Project offers the chance to build your own design, develop practical skills and meet industry professionals.
Lead Member for Economy, Employment and Innovation, Cllr Catherine Faulks, said:
"Supporting young people in employment is a top priority for the Council as we emerge from lockdown and this course is a fantastic way to gain experience in a fun way and provide a step into an exciting career."
"The construction industry has continued to thrive throughout the pandemic and with so many different roles available, we hope that this gives a valuable insight for those thinking about their future."

As part of its employment support offer, the Council recently recruited a new dedicated Apprenticeships Coordinator and Constructions and Partnerships Adviser to help local people into more roles and develop their skills. Residents can find out more by contacting [email protected].
Other opportunities for young people include the Youthquake 2021 initiative at Portobello Market where entrepreneurs and creatives under 30 can apply for a stall over a weekend at a much-reduced rate.
