Residents who have been told to self-isolate by the NHS Test and Trace on or since Monday 28 September could be entitled to a payment of £500 to help them to stay home. The scheme will backdate payments to the start of your isolation.

The payment has been set up by Government to make sure those who cannot work from home have some financial support to stay home while self-isolating. The Council will be administering payments to residents in Kensington and Chelsea. NHS Test and Trace will contact people who test positive for Coronavirus to get details of people they have been within 2m of in the previous two days and will then contact them to tell them to self-isolate for 14 days.

Here’s the five steps you need to take to find out if you are eligible and claim your payment.

  • Isolate with immediate effect if you are contacted by NHS Test and Trace and asked to self-isolate
  • Check if you are eligible for financial support by visiting webtest.rbkc.gov.uk/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-19-financial-support-during-self-isolation People who are employed or self-employed who receive certain benefits and cannot do their job from home may be eligible
  • Before you apply, have your latest bank statement, proof of self-employment, proof of your NHS account ID for Coronavirus and your national insurance number to hand
  • Go to webtest.rbkc.gov.uk and search for Covid-19 financial support to start your application
  • It will take three days to process your application, you will then receive your payment by BACS.  You must continue to self-isolate for the full 14 days since NHS Test and Trace first contacted you

The most important things you can do to help control the virus is to follow the Government advice of Hands Face Space.  That is to regularly wash your hands for a least 20 seconds with soap, cover your face if you cannot remain at least 2m away from people or if you are in shops or other enclosed spaces and ensure that you are at least 2m away from anyone not in your household or bubble.
