  • Courts have granted orders for the Council to clamp down on anti-social behaviour to protect residents in North Kensington.
  • Three court orders have been granted following applications by the Council, after officers worked with the police to gather local intelligence.
  • Work is part of ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour reported in the borough by residents.

Court orders have been awarded to clamp down on anti-social behaviour (ASB) at three North Kensington properties.

The council applied for the orders, gathering intelligence with the police, after residents reported nuisance behaviour and criminal activity at Council-owned homes.

The rulings include a full closure order for one property, preventing anyone entering it for three months, and a one-year interim injunction for a second property that comes with a power of arrest for a named person if they breach specific terms.

A third case resulted in a three-month partial closure order for a property the Council feared had been taken over for criminal activity by people who did not live there. The order means that anyone except for the resident and support workers entering the home will be committing a criminal offence.

Cllr Kim Taylor-Smith, Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Housing, said:

“No matter where you live, you shouldn’t have to put up with anti-social behaviour. We won’t tolerate it in our communities and we have taken this action to protect residents living in Council homes. By acting early with the police, we can make our communities more enjoyable places to live and sever the link between anti-social behaviour and more serious crime.

“Thanks to all our residents who have worked with us to build the intelligence we need to take action. We’ll keep working together with you and our partners to keep our borough safe.”
