Every Friday we publish the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in the borough on Twitter, our handle is @RBKC. It is based on information from the Government’s Coronavirus website.
In the week Thursday 20 to Wednesday 26 August there were 24 Coronavirus cases, up from 19 in the previous week. However, these changes are not unusual due to the easing of lockdown and an increase in testing. Our Director of Public Health, Russell Styles, said explains:
“We are working with the NHS and Public Health England to do all we can to limit the spread of Coronavirus. As lockdown measures are eased and community testing becomes more widely available, we would expect to see a fluctuation in the number of cases of Coronavirus.
“We have a robust outbreak control plan and we are monitoring the local and regional situation closely on a daily basis. The virus has not gone away and the case rate will continue to vary, everyone has the responsibility to help limit the spread of Coronavirus, particularly as Carnival weekend is upon us.
“Please make sure you are staying two metres from people outside of your household wherever possible, wearing a face covering when in places where it’s hard to stay away from other people you do not normally meet, and washing your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds.”
