Residents, businesses and community members have helped to shape exciting early plans for new Council-owned homes at Edenham, next to Trellick Tower in North Kensington.
Starting with a blank piece of paper, the Council asked people living and working near to the site to share their likes and dislikes about the area and any thoughts they had about potential development as part of Phase Two of the Council’s New Homes Delivery Programme.
Some 49 people attended two live online chat sessions held before Christmas to discuss the plans with officers, and the Council received 98 feedback forms which will now be used to inform more detailed plans for the site ahead of a second round of consultation this February.
More than a third of those who completed the feedback form supported the plans, with 49 per cent objecting to any loss of recreation space or a graffiti wall on the site.
Improved street lighting was a popular potential improvement with 58 per cent of people, with accessible green space and feeling safe among the other priorities identified.
The Edenham site forms part of Phase Two of the Council’s New Homes Development Programme, which aims to build 600 new Council-owned homes across Kensington and Chelsea with at least 300 at social rent.
