The Government announced last month that as Coronavirus cases fall and restrictions are lifted, shielding of the clinically extremely vulnerable will be suspended from Saturday 1 August.
Although food parcels from the Government and Council will stop from 1 August, we will ensure all residents who need support have access to a shopping service or are linked with local organisations who can provide support and help with food and other needs. If you are in this situation you can call the Kensington and Chelsea Social Council (KCSC) on 020 7243 9800, Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 5pm; or you can call the Venture Centre on 020 8960 3234, Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 4.30pm. KCSC also has a list of local foodbanks.
We’re currently trying to contact everyone that we know has been shielding to make sure they’re aware of what’s available.
We know that many neighbours and family members have been helping those who were shielding, for example assisting with shopping or prescriptions. But if anyone still needs support, they can contact the Council’s Customer Services Centre on 020 7361 3000. It is open Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
