The organisers of the Notting Hill Carnival have announced a series of official events throughout August to help to bring a spectacular Carnival back to the streets of Notting Hill in 2022 and beyond.
With Carnival not taking place on the streets in 2021, Notting Hill Carnival Ltd is putting on three unique live ticketed events at Opera Holland Park on 19, 20 and 21 August to raise funds for the Carnival Trust Fund.
The open-air Carnival Culture In The Park events will celebrate the culture and heritage of the Carnival, with the people and bands who create the sounds, sights and electric atmosphere of the borough’s iconic celebration showcasing the best in traditional and contemporary Caribbean music alongside traditional opera.
Cllr Emma Will, Lead Member for Culture said:
“It’s fantastic that residents and visitors will be able to take part in Notting Hill Carnival this year at Carnival Culture In The Park. It’s important that we continue to celebrate the energy and the culture that Notting Hill Carnival brings to our borough but at the Council, we do have to keep the safety of our community as our top priority.
“We’re working hard with the organisers and other partners to ensure that everyone can enjoy Carnival in their own way and that it is done safely. We still have a role to play in reducing the risk of spreading Covid and we encourage everyone to get their jabs, to be mindful of others when out and about and to get regular tests before heading out to any event.
We’ll also be hosting the Kensington + Chelsea Festival, a series of family-friendly cultural events to celebrate, entertain and inspire, from June to the August bank holiday weekend.
“Notting Hill Carnival may not be on our streets this year but we look forward to welcoming back this lively and beautiful celebration in 2022.”
Carnival Culture In The Park is being held in partnership with Kensington + Chelsea Festival and Carnival Village Trust.
Tickets are £10 and go on sale July 28.
