Over 20,000 rapid community tests have been carried out for those who can’t work from home, including key workers, by Kensington and Chelsea Council since community testing began in early December.
Since the national lockdown the Council has been specifically targeting key workers and those who cannot work from home, who have no symptoms.
With 20,009 tests conducted by the end of Wednesday 27 January, 863 people were found to have Coronavirus, meaning a positivity rate of 4.3 per cent.
Welcoming the news, Cllr Cem Kemahli, Lead Member for Public Health, said:
“Residents have been doing all they can to help protect their friends, families and neighbours, but Coronavirus rates are still very high across London.
“By targeting those who have to leave home to provide vital services, our testing is helping to protect people who may not realise they have the virus. It can help limit the spread to their colleagues or their family. If you are a key worker, or you cannot work from home, and you have no Coronavirus symptoms please get tested regularly.”
There are three testing centres in the borough:
Kensington Leisure Centre, Silchester Road, W10 6EX
From 10am to 4pm seven days a week.
Kensington Town Hall, Hornton Street, W8 7NX
8.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm at weekends.
Chelsea Old Town Hall, King’s Road, SW3 5EE
From 10am to 4pm seven days a week
Currently Kensington and Chelsea has the third lowest Coronavirus case rate in London at 305.5 per 100,000 (16 to 22 January)
