Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee
What celebrations are taking place?
This year marks a remarkable milestone for Her Majesty The Queen in 70 years on the throne. To mark this momentous occasion, there are a number of celebrations throughout the year and ways for us all to come together, with a focus on the Bank Holiday Weekend from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June.
Local celebrations
Street Parties
Street Parties are a long-held tradition in celebrating national events and the Platinum Jubilee is no exception.
There are 33 street parties taking place across the borough that the Council has supported through grant contributions and waived fees. These private street parties are organised by residents for their neighbours, but there is one event that have been organised for any resident to pop along and enjoy:
- The King’s Road Platinum Jubilee Street Party organised by Cadogan Estates Ltd on Saturday 4 June from 11am - 6pm with a section of the Kings Road from Sloane Square to Cheltenham Terrace closed to traffic, and local retailers such as Peter Jones and Chelsea Physic Garden hosting marquees with activities such as crown making and face painting. No tickets required.
To aid with travel plans around the borough over the Bank Holiday weekend, please view the list of road closures. Nearby roads to these will likely see some impact from resident cars needing to park outside of those roads hosting street parties.
