The Mayor, Cllr David Lindsay with representatives from his chosen charities: The Rugby Portobello Trust and the ClementJames Centre.

The charities Councillor David Lindsay has chosen to support in 2022/23 are;

Rugby Portobello Trust

The Rugby Portobello Trust is a children's, youth and family charity that has been supporting the local community for over 135 years. They provide a range of activities to help the children and young people of North Kensington to build confidence, expand their horizons and realise their potential.

Their offer includes:

  • educational support
  • art sessions
  • music programmes
  • sporting activities
  • mental health support
  • mentoring programmes
  • employment hubs
  • parenting groups and more.

They support children, young people and mums to be happy, healthy and engaged members of society.

To address the ongoing impact of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis, our Covid Recovery Plan has led them to develop and expand their employment support work, mental health support and digital inclusion programmes, ensuring the next generation in not left behind in the current crisis.

The ClementJames Centre

The ClementJames Centre is an award winning charity that empowers the community to release its potential in one of London’s most disadvantaged areas.

Their vision is for everyone in our community to release their potential and live fulfilled lives through education, employment and wellbeing supported in a safe and compassionate space.

Their offer includes:

  • Help for people to gain meaningful and sustainable employment through personalised advice and support, mentoring and work skills activities.
  • Support for adults to improve their English, Maths and ICT skills through a wide range of Functional Skills courses and intensive Literacy & Numeracy support.
  • Help for children and young people to learn, flourish and achieve their potential through academic support, mentoring, Literacy & Numeracy support and aspirational activities.
  • Information, Advice and Guidance to empower people to overcome barriers and challenges and to engage with their own wellbeing.
