To help stop the spread of coronavirus, please follow the latest government guidance. It’s vital that we all play our part in limiting the spread of coronavirus.
- How to contact your GP
If you need medical help, the NHS is still there for you:
- If you need medical help from your GP, contact them online, through an app or over the phone
- If you need urgent medical help, use the NHS 111 online service. If you cannot get help online, call 111
- If it’s a serious or life-threatening emergency, call 999
- If you are told to go to hospital, it is important that you go to hospital
It’s vital that you seek help if you think you need any kind of medical care. You should continue to attend your appointments and collect your prescriptions unless you have been told not to attend.
- Support for Care Homes and other providers
Kensington and Chelsea is committed to working in partnership with the borough’s care homes who have a vital role to play in protecting vulnerable people during the Covid-19 pandemic. This letter and implementation plan sets out at high level the support arrangements that are currently in place locally to support care homes to protect their staff and residents.
- Every Mind Matters and supporting mental wellbeing
We know that for many people the current Coronavirus situation may result in feelings of anxiety, loneliness or depression.
To help, GOV.UK guidance on mental health and wellbeing during coronavirus (COVID-19) is available. It provides advice on how to look after your mental health and wellbeing during Coronavirus, including how to connect with and support others, manage your feelings and daily routine and where to find support.

- Every Mind Matters - Visit NHS Every Mind Matters to get your free online personal Mind Plan including simple tips and advice for you to look after your mental wellbeing during Coronavirus
- Good Thinking - If you are anxious, stressed, depressed or having trouble sleeping because of coronavirus? This has NHS-approved mental health tools and advice to support you
- Community Living Well - services are available for people aged 16 and over for people registered with a GP in Kensington and Chelsea
- The NHS Single Point of Access Line - call 0800 0234 650 – open 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- You can call NHS 111 if you or someone you know needs urgent care, but it's not life threatening
- The Samaritans – call 0330 094 5717 or freephone 116 123 – open 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- The Listening Place – call 020 3906 7676 – open from 9am to 9pm, seven days a week
If you feel that you or someone you know is in an acute life-threatening medical or mental health emergency, please dial 999.
If you are an older person, these schemes allow you to stay in touch over the phone, either through regular one-to-one chats, or as part of conversation groups.
Independent Age Telephone Befriending
The Independent Age Telephone Befriending Line Service for older people connects you with someone who cares, from Independent Age, in the comfort of your own home to have a chat.
The Silver Line Telephone Friend Service for older people connects you with someone to have a weekly chat to in the comfort of your own home. The Silver Line Circles is facilitated group telephone calls where people with shared interests can discuss topics that interest them with a wider group. Both services can be accessed via their number which is: 0800 470 8090.
Pepper Pot Centre
The Pepper Pot Centre in North Kensington can provide a telephone befriending service to older people to check if they are well and to help with any problems. Call 020 8968 6940 or email: [email protected] for more information.

Due to the developing situation with the Coronavirus (Covid-19), there will be some disruption to the Adult Learning services. Please contact your learning provider directly to check about the delivery of your course as the situation develops. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time. - Domestic abuse support
The pandemic brings new challenges for people who are living through domestic abuse, and victims and survivors who are self-isolating may not be able to access support or escape abuse at times when they otherwise would. Self-isolating while living with an abuser may also see an increase of risk of harm. However, support is available.
