Candidates to be the borough’s first ever Youth Mayor have outlined what their priorities would be should they be elected by their peers in March.
The powerful manifestos reveal the passions and concerns of young people living locally, including topics such as the environment, knife crime and mental health support. Over the next few weeks young people will take to the polls to choose who they want to lead the Youth Council.
Once elected, the Youth Mayor will work with the Youth Council (which will consist of all the candidates for Youth Mayor) to ensure the voices of young residents are being heard within the Council – not to mention allocating funding from a £40,000 pot to projects they feel will enhance the borough for people their age.
