There will be widespread road closures across London and Surrey on Sunday 30 July for Prudential RideLondon cycling events.
Prudential RideLondon is an annual festival of cycling. This year events take place over the weekend of Friday 28 to Sunday 30 July 2017.
The event has been developed by the Mayor of London, London & Partners and Transport for London in partnership with Surrey County Council, and is managed by the London & Surrey Cycling Partnership. The events help to promote cycling and encourage more people to cycle more safely and more often.
The biggest impact on roads and traffic in Kensington and Chelsea will be on Sunday 30 July when over 100 miles of road will be closed across London and Surrey to accommodate three events:
Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 is an event for 25,000 amateur riders to take on a 100-mile cycle challenge through the closed roads of London and Surrey, starting at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park before finishing at The Mall.
Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 is a 46-mile ride for 5,000 amateur cyclists within the existing 100-mile challenge created specifically for newer and young riders, also starting at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and finishing at The Mall.
Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic is the first British men’s race ever to attain UCI WorldTour status and featuring the best male cyclists in the world. The race starts at Horse Guards Parade, St James’s Park before heading into Surrey and returning to the capital to finish on The Mall.

Chelsea Embankment
Given the scale of the events other local roads will be affected and have restricted access.

Road closures and reopening times
Knightsbridge, Brompton Road and Cromwell Road (A4) will close at 5am and are expected to reopen at 2.45pm.
King’s Road, Ashburnham Road, Cremorne Road, Cheyne Walk and Chelsea Embankment will close at 7.30am and are expected to reopen at 7.30pm.
The A4 eastbound between Hogarth Roundabout and Warwick Road at Earls Court will remain open throughout the day.
Lots Road and Cremorne
There will be restricted vehicle access in the south of the borough. For residents who live in the Lots Road area, surrounded by the event route, getting in and out will be aided by the temporary lifting of the Townmead Road barrier, but again traffic will be very heavy.

Bridge closures
A number of bridges in central London will be closed until the evening of Sunday 30 July. Hammersmith Bridge and Kew Bridge will be open but are expected to be busy. Wandsworth Bridge will be open for local resident access only (no through route).

Parking
Anyone who usually parks on a road used by the event should move their vehicle the night before. Vehicles cannot be parked on the route in the borough from 11pm on Saturday 29 July. Vehicles parked on the route, or parked in a suspended bay will be removed.

There will be stewards and volunteers positioned along the route. If you require assistance on the day that is not a 999 emergency please ask event staff to help. Alternatively, contact the helpdesk on 0345 894 9773.

Travel advice from Transport for London (TfL)
The events will close roads in London between Friday 28 and the early hours of Monday 31 July, affecting drivers and bus passengers. Some Tube stations will also be busier than usual.
