Resident at Henry Dickens Court first to star in new fire safety videos created with the Council

Published: Thursday 10 February 2022

The Council’s Fire Safety Team have been working with residents at Henry Dickens Court to create easily digestible videos as a new and innovative way to help residents learn more about the fire safety procedures for their building.

Keith Todd, Head of Fire Safety, said:

“As a Council we are committed to achieving the highest standards of fire safety and ensuring residents have the necessary information to feel safe in their homes. We understand that often vital information is best delivered from a familiar face and hope residents better connect with these videos when they can recognise the people and places featured in them.”

The videos cover topics such as how to test your smoke alarms and what to do in the event of a fire in your flat or a neighbouring property. The Residents Association at Henry Dickens Court worked with the Council on the videos to make sure they were relevant and engaging for all residents on the estate.

Jill, Henry Dickens Court resident, said:

“Being overshadowed by the Grenfell Tower and having witnessed other flat fires on our estate since the tragedy, meant I jumped at the chance to work with the Fire Safety Team on finding innovative ways to inform and advise all residents on fire safety. Being a vulnerable person myself, gave me additional insight into how we all need to be extra vigilant on what we use in our homes and how we can all make small changes to better protect ourselves and each other.”
