A local proclamation of the accession of King Charles III will take place at 2pm on Sunday 11 September at the Exhibition Road entrance to the V&A Museum.
The event is a public announcement of the new monarch, made by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Cllr David Lindsay. It is expected to last around 15 minutes.
Exhibition Road will be closed to traffic from 11am to 3pm allowing members of the public to line the streets nearby. Residents of Kensington and Chelsea are welcome to attend the event. The event is un-ticketed so we recommend anyone wishing to see the proclamation arrives early.
Around 80 guests have also been individually invited too, including members of the Council, Commanding Officers of Regiments having the Freedom of the Royal Borough, Borough Police and Fire Commanders and representatives of local faith groups.
The event will follow a national Proclamation at the Accession Council on Saturday 10 September at 10am at St James’s Palace and at midday at the Royal Exchange in the City of London.
Further proclamations across the nations of the UK will also take place on Sunday 11 September.
