Portobello and Golborne Market have won a National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) award for Best Large Outdoor Market at the Great British Market Awards 2023.
The awards are presented to markets that the NABMA consider play outstanding roles in local communities. The award demonstrates the value and pride placed on the market which continues to be recognised as a significant asset to life in Kensington and Chelsea.
Portobello and Golborne Market won the Best Large Outdoor Market based on its vibrancy, energy, and attraction. NABMA described it as ‘cosmopolitan, world renowned and without doubt, a major London attraction’ and noted the ‘supporting management infrastructure for this wonderful market’.
Cllr Josh Rendall, Local Economy and Employment lead member said:
“This award is fantastic news for the trading community, those who love and support the iconic market and our Street Trading Office Team who work hard to ensure the effective running of trade.

Portobello Road is home to one of the UK’s most diverse communities and it has a rich history dating back to the 19th century with millions of visitors visiting the market each year. The market stalls stretch for a mile all the way down Portobello Road and round the corner into Golborne Road.
