Please note an update to the location of this meeting, which will take place at: St John's Church, Lansdowne Crescent.
The Notting Hill community will meet to discuss the future of their local police station on 2 February at 6.30pm at St John's Church on Lansdowne Crescent.
Notting Hill Police Station has been put up for sale by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC). The Council is making an offer to buy the building, so that it remains in the hands of the public sector, with facilities for the local community as the top priority.
Proposals include:
- a new GP surgery
- a space for local police
- specialist facilities for adults with learning disabilities
- community space to rent
- affordable housing for key workers.
The event is hosted by the Kensington Society and is open to all. Councillors, MOPAC and the NHS have been invited to attend to answer questions about the future of the site. Residents who wish to attend can simply turn up on the evening. The community has also started a petition in support of the Council's bid.
The Mayor’s Office of Policing and Crime (MOPAC) notified the council of its intention to sell the building in July 2021. The site is an asset of community value, meaning that if any community organisation expresses an interest in the site a six-month moratorium delays the sale. This means the sale was delayed until this month.
MOPAC is expected to make a decision on the future of the site and announce a successful bidder in March 2022.
