Bus routes which had been due for the chop in Kensington and Chelsea have been saved thanks to residents responding in their thousands to a Transport for London consultation.
The Mayor has announced that new funding has been found so services can be retained.
In summer 2022 the Council encouraged residents to speak up on behalf of local bus routes, which are an essential lifeline for people commuting, shopping and going to hospital in the borough. More than 21,500 people responded from across London to the TfL consultation.
The Council also responded to the TfL consultation highlighting local problems with plans for changes to routes including the C3, 11, 14 and 49.
Now all these routes will stay with some small restructuring of the 11 and N11 routes between Fulham and Waterloo.
Cllr Cem Kemahli, lead member for planning, place and environment said:
“It’s a huge relief for me and for people across the borough that these cuts have been reversed. This is the right decision by TfL and I’m grateful for every resident who joined with us to make their voices heard.
“The buses are the most used means of public transport in our borough and often the only one suitable for people who cannot walk or cycle easily such as people with disabilities, parents with buggies or those carrying heavy luggage.”
