New in-house co-working spaces are being opened up at Brompton, Chelsea and Notting Hill Gate libraries, providing accessible local spaces for small businesses and freelancers to thrive. K+C Co-works will be launching from April 2022, providing affordable desk hire, facilities, storage and more.
Those who may not be able to afford or need permanent office spaces can access K+C Co-works on a set monthly or flexible day basis. Small business owners, start up enterprises or freelancers based in the borough and surrounding areas will be able to minimise their operational costs whilst benefitting from a professional and attractive workspace for them and their employees.
Cllr Catherine Faulks, Lead Member for Economy, Employment and Innovations said,
“Co-working is on the rise, partly due to the pandemic changing the way we work and an increase in start-ups and side hustles. K+C Co-works empowers freelancers and small businesses to set up and succeed through affordable co-working space. Bringing this service in-house in our libraries means we can directly serve our local business community and work closely with them to deliver exactly what they need.
“K+C Co-works will help our libraries remain fit for purpose for the future, offering another valuable service, alongside being a hub for learning and connecting.”
George Lambert, Founder of software and cloud computing company, Lambert Labs, who is staying on at Brompton Library once K+C Co-works launches, said,

Feeling comfortable in your surroundings is also vital when co-working, and the library offers this comfort and familiarity in abundance.’’
Fixed monthly desk space can be booked from £200 (+VAT) and hotdesking options are also available from £20 per day (+VAT) to suit a range of needs. As well as desks and chairs, superfast broadband, and tea and coffee making facilities, as the K+C Co-works offer grows, it will also include:
- Diverse business and reading resources
- Lockers
- Rooms for hire
- Skills-sharing network
Existing users of the previous provider of co-working spaces in the libraries are being invited to stay on with K+C Co-works to minimise disruption to their operation and enjoy the refurbished spaces. New members are also welcome to sign up and can book space directly and booking details will be released soon.
