The Curve Community Centre is hosting a series of online Black History sessions with cultural historian Claud Adisa Steven.
Recent protests and demonstrations around the world have shown that black history is something we can all benefit from knowing more about.
Some of the most important and captivating stories surrounding the lives of historical black figures go untold - why not join cultural historian and author Claud Adisa Steven for a series of online sessions to broaden your horizons?
Everyone is welcome but those under 13 must be joined by a parent.
There are two courses featuring 12 sessions each, running for six weeks from 6pm to 7pm. Introduction to African World studies takes place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Black British History takes place on Thursdays and Fridays.

Introduction to African World Studies – Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 23 June: An introduction to the history and contributions made by people of African heritage throughout Africa and the world. Learn about the great civilizations, empires and cultures. Tuesday evening on Zoom from 6pm to 7pm.
Black British History ‘The Greatest Story Never Told’ –Thursdays and Fridays from 25 June: Learn about the presence and contribution made by people of African/Caribbean descent throughout British History. Contrary to current perception the ‘Black presence in Britain did not begin with the arrival of the Empire Windrush in 1948 but with the first migrations of humans over 10.000 years ago. Thursday evening on Zoom from 6pm to 7pm.
Claud Adisa Steven is a Cultural Historian and author. He has worked in community, youth and educational settings and has studied the subject areas for over the past 30 years.
