Children’s services in Kensington and Chelsea have been given a clean sweep of outstanding ratings in every practice by Ofsted, the independent inspectorate.
The bi-borough service, its teams and leadership were highly praised, with assessors describing services as excellent. Kensington and Chelsea was judged to deliver “exemplary practice” for children who cannot live with their families.
The last time the service was reviewed by Ofsted it attained an 'Outstanding' rating across the board. The service has improved beyond even that, with Ofsted commenting:
“Staff in Kensington and Chelsea are highly skilled, qualified and experienced. They embody the values of care, respect and integrity and visibly care about the children they are responsible for and their families.”
Cllr David Lindsay, Lead Member for Families and Children's Services said:
“This report highlights perfectly the hard work that Children's Services teams in Kensington and Chelsea put in every day. I’m thrilled that their dedication has been recognised and know that residents will feel pride knowing their borough’s Children's Services are truly top notch.
“The past two years have been a period of great reflection and change at RBKC following the tragedy at Grenfell. That self-reflection has allowed us to continually ask ourselves how we can provide stronger services, ensuring every officer, manager and head of service delivers their absolute best to improve the lives of residents.”
We’ll be sharing videos from colleagues who have helped us achieve and maintain this brilliant result on our social media throughout the week.
