Pupils at Kensington and Chelsea’s secondary schools have been celebrating their GCSE results today following exams taking place in person again for the first time in two years.
Cllr Catherine Faulks, Lead Member for Family and Children’s Services, said: “A huge well done to the hardworking pupils who received their GCSE results today and to the brilliant staff at our local schools who helped them along the way. I spent the morning chatting with pupils about their results, their next steps and their hopes for the future, and I couldn’t be more impressed with their ambition and drive to achieve. They’re a credit to their schools and to the borough.”
Kensington Aldridge Academy students have secured the school’s best ever GCSE results, with 38 per cent of all grades at 7 or above (equivalent to the old ‘A’ grade).
At All Saints Catholic College, a record breaking 86 per cent of pupils achieved grades 9-4 in both English & Maths, with 25 per cent claiming a clean sweep of top grades (level 7 and above) across all subjects.
Cardinal Vaughan is celebrating 39.7 per cent of grades at 9 and 8, compared to a national average of 21.7 per cent, and 57.9 per cent from 9 to 7.

Evan from Kensington Aldridge Academy secured a string of high grades and has enrolled for another two years at KAA to study A Levels in Art, History, English and Maths. When asked how she felt this morning, Evan told us: “I was stressed and anxious but when results day comes around, you’ve done what you can do so you just have to hope your hard work has paid off.”
Raphael from St Thomas More Language College received three 9s, five 8s and two 7s. He told us: “I’m going to study at St Michaels Grammar School and do Economics, Maths and Psychology – I want to go into investment banking.”
Andrew O’Neill, Headteacher at All Saints Catholic College, said: “We’re delighted for our students, we’ve had record-breaking results this year, even better than last year’s teacher assessed grades. It’s a testament to our hard-working students that they achieved these grades despite the disruption of the past two years.”
Dr Trevor Papworth, Headteacher of St Thomas More Language College, said: “Once again, the hard working students of STMLC are celebrating excellent GCSE results, having achieved or exceeded their potential allowing them to progress further in their post 16 studies. We are particularly pleased that 79% of the students achieved the A*-C equivalence in both English and Maths, and that our Further Maths cohort all achieved high grades.
