Self-harm

Self-harm is when someone hurts them self on purpose. Sometimes people self-harm because of how they feel and this can become a pattern; something they do every time they feel certain emotions.

Nobody should feel as though they have to self-harm to deal with how they are feeling, or what is happening in their life. There is always another way and someone who can help.

If you or someone you know is self-harming, think about whether there is an adult you trust who you can tell. This could be a parent, carer, relative, a member of staff at school, or a member of staff at clubs or activities you attend.
