Senior residents really know how to party in Kensington and Chelsea. Once a year, from all corners of the borough, they don their glad rags and join friends and neighbours for a jolly good knees up.
While last year’s party was in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee; this year’s party kicked off celebrations for the forthcoming coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
Last week (Thursday 20 April) at the Holiday Inn Hotel, High Street Kensington the senior social set, enjoyed a delicious three course lunch with tea, coffee, and wine. Lunch was followed by a raffle with fabulous prizes kindly donated by the Council’s contractors.
The afternoon continued with hokey-kokey on the dancefloor to residents’ favourite band Serenade. Deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr Kim Taylor-Smith, joined residents in raising a glass to the king and welcoming the attendance of Kensington and Chelsea Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr David and Catherine Lindsay.
Cllr Kim Taylor Smith said: "The annual senior party is a much-loved annual event that I always look forward to and I know our residents do too. It is an opportunity for our community to enjoy a wonderful afternoon with friends, neighbours, staff, familiar faces, and friendships yet to be made.
"As always, this party has been a fabulously warm and friendly occasion and I look forward to meeting all our residents again next year."
More than 120 residents took part in the occasion and a fabulous time was had by all. For more information email [email protected]
