Published: Friday 8 July 2022

**WE ARE POSTPONING THIS EVENT DUE TO THE EXTREME HEAT AND RED WEATHER WARNINGS. WE APOLOGISE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE BUT WE BELIEVE IT IS THE BEST THING TO DO TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE.**

The Council has been awarded funding from the Mayor of London to transform Notting Dale into an exemplar sustainable eco-neighbourhood that is greener, fairer, and more climate resilient, by 2030.

On Monday 18 July, we'll be holding a family-friendly launch event for residents to learn more about the Notting Dale Future Neighbourhoods 2030 programme, and the different environmental initiatives happening in your local area.

Monday 18 July
3pm to 8pm
Avondale Park
W11 4EY

The funding from the Mayor of London will be used to develop a community-led environmental vision for Notting Dale and deliver 30+ projects which will improve air quality, reduce carbon emissions, help tackle social and health inequalities, improve green spaces, and create more green jobs for residents, across the wider local area.

Projects delivered with the local community, will address some of the most urgent needs and provide immediate impact across five key themes:

  • Fabric First: Notting Dale Goes Net Zero
  • Powering Up for the People: Clean, Green and Local Energy
  • Creating a Cleaner and Healthier Notting Dale
  • Building a Notting Dale Nature Recovery Network
  • Creating Green Jobs and Skills Through Circular Economy

What you can expect from the launch event

At the launch event, you will hear inspiring stories on how positive climate action can make a difference in your local area and learn more about the projects being delivered in and around Notting Dale - including retrofitting of homes and schools, community energy schemes, free cycling training for residents, community gardening and greening, reuse and repair initiatives, volunteering programmes, and free training opportunities.

We have prepared an afternoon full of activities in Avondale Park for children and adults and we hope to bring together residents, community groups, local organisations and businesses, to share views, aspirations, needs, and priorities on how to make our neighbourhoods greener and ways we can work together to tackle climate change.

The aim of this community event is to bring people together, have lots of fun, connect and empower residents to take action on environmental issues, get involved in the Notting Dale Future Neighbourhoods 2030 programme and share views on how to make Notting Dale an exemplar eco-neighbourhood.

Food and drink will be provided.

This is a family-friendly event and we will have many activities for children as well as parents and adults! We are hoping to get everyone inspired and hopeful about local climate action.
