Evelyn reduced her stress and improved her cash flow with skills from one of our Money-Wise courses.
Local resident Evelyn wanted to get a bit smarter with her money and is feeling confident having learned handy tips to save money, spot good bargains, and improve her understanding of energy usage.
Evelyn said:
“It was absolutely brilliant, I learnt so much, from saving money on fuel and shopping, to finding the cheapest broadband. I would highly recommend this course to everyone.”
The courses were set up by our Housing and Employment Team in partnership with social housing provider, Octavia back in March, and a new series will be run in the months ahead; the first of these is scheduled to commence from 27 June at The Reed in Convent Gardens, W11.
Evelyn added:
“The course was amazing for me. I am saving money from checking shopping deals and have been saving about £10 a week, but I sometimes use this to help my family. I have also been able to save enough to pay for a new passport. I am using lots more maths in my day-to-day life and I am always checking prices, like how much things will cost me per gram.
“I feel less stressed by using what I learned on the course. I have been more frugal with my electricity usage and shopping and checking sites that to find new and free deals for things like furniture. I don’t waste anything at all and would look at using all the food in my house, even using some as compost. I am prioritising my spending and decluttering and finding things I forgot I had, giving some of them to charity. I have even been able to help others do their shopping, assisting them with some price comparisons.”
So, if you’re struggling with your finances at the moment, and feel inspired by Evelyn’s story, keep an eye on notice boards, the Housing News website and the Housing Matters Instagram page for more details in the coming months.
