Residents are invited to enjoy a morning coffee, croissant and the good company of friends and neighbours in a series of breakfast gatherings organised by the Council’s Resident Engagement Team.
These monthly breakfasts offer a secure, inclusive, and welcoming environment where people can develop friendships and participate in discussions with staff and fellow residents.
Those attending the second event in the series, held at Portobello Court on 25 April, expressed support for the initiative.
Sharon said “This is a really good idea. While we pass each other and say hello as we go by, breakfast mornings give us an opportunity to have a coffee and a chat and get to know our neighbours. I hope even more residents will take up the opportunity to come along to future events.”
Andrew agreed “It is really important to have events like this. People can become isolated for so many reasons, sometimes not speaking to anyone for days. This type of event can give a sense of belonging and that in turn can have a positive impact on wellbeing.”
The Council is committed to ensuring that residents are involved in how their homes are managed and encouraging them to take part in community life on their estates.
Breakfasts will be held alternately at World's End Estate in the south of the borough and Portobello Court in the north. More events are being planned.
